I have just recently acquired another large format printer – 44inch wide Epson 9880 which I’ll be running alongside my older 24inch Epson 7800. Although it’s a generation newer the differences in output quality is almost non existence especially for the majority of photos I print. Probably the main difference from my older printer is that it’s capable of printing on up to 44inch wide media which dramatically increases the print sizes I can offer. Other differences are the use of vivid magenta ink instead of magenta to increase the gamut and faster printing times. Aside from that now I can create 40inch x 60inch stretched canvases where as previously was limited to 20inch x 30inch. That’s four times the area and hopefully the last printer I will be purchasing for a long time except for a new laser printer to print my paperwork and promotional/marketing materials.
