Welcome to my first attempt at creating a photography blog. The whole concept of having a blog isn’t new to me as I’ve been a long time user of the internet and have read numerous ones created by others in the past. The decision whether to start one of my own didn’t come easy as besides working out how to do it my mind is challenged about what I should really be writing in it. I know clients, potential clients, and other photographers will make the majority of readers and thus raises such questions as to how much information I should really be including.
Setting up this blog was actually a lot easier then I had anticipated. After a bit of “googling” to compare blogging platforms I decided overall WordPress was overall the way to go. Installation only took a mere 5 minutes of logging into C Panel of the my webhost account, going Installation Applications Installer and selecting WordPress out of the massive list of available options. Everything seemed to be automated and the next steps were choosing a theme and some widgets and straight onwards to the first blog. I still do have some customization to go to get the look I want but getting started was a cinch.
My study in photography and design started right after high school and has taken several years of hard work and most my hard earned cash to get to where I am now (and still a long way to that idealised vision). Choosing a creative career especially in design or photography is one that best be taken on by pure passion and not money as with supply and demand, there’s a lot more of us creative’s out there then jobs available. What that means is its very difficult to get employed in the industry and on top of that the wages are very low for most. Since graduating I have been working in various parts of the industry for 5 years and now with the major realisation that a) I will never make enough money working for another company and b) I already have most the skills and experience needed to start things on my own and so have decided to leave my current full time employer and go full time freelancer (Sole Trader).
